Evergreen Landcare can provide cost effective cultivation, preparation, sowing, and fertilising services to it’s customers. This helps provide the complete package when it comes to the reinstatement of large land development projects throughout New Zealand.
Cultivation and Preparation of the seed bed can be carried out using a range of specialist equipment such as a rotary hoe, discs, deep rippers, a maxitill, harrows, levelling equipment and a power harrow. All have their specific purpose and can be tailored to suit each individual site.
Sowing can be carried out in a number of forms designed to suit each site. We have specialised landscape drills with rollers attached to carry out precise sowing on sports fields, turf areas, and high profile sites if required. In addition we also have broadcast seeders behind a tractor or quad bike that can be used for a more cost effective reinstatement solution. The seed is normally rolled into the surface or lightly covered using harrows.
Fertilising is critical to achieving a healthy vegetation cover and Evergreen Landcare can offer a wide range of specialist fertilisers to suit each site. We have the ability to obtain soil tests prior to the application to determine what is required and then the most cost effective fertiliser can be recommended. Once this is determined we have the ability to apply it using our specialist equipment.
Evergreen Landcare’s straw mulching process is very effective in preventing sediment run-off in heavy rains. Sediment run-off is impeded by at least 80%.
The process involves mulching straw and blowing it over the ground surface until it forms a continuous open textured mat.
The covering of straw provides a microclimate of even temperature and moisture content at the ground surface.
The open weave of the straw allows light and water into the seed bed providing ideal conditions for germination. The straw mulch prevents drying out due to the effects of frost or sun and wind.
Using this method new grasses can be established even in June/July at altitudes of over 500 metres above sea level.
Straw mulching can be used in conjunction with either Hydroseeding or conventionally sown areas.
Evergreen Landcare has 40 years experience in Hydroseeding throughout New Zealand.
We are the original pioneers of the hydraulic application of grass mulches in New Zealand.
Our specialised Hydroseeding process provides a cost effective service for grass seeding and fertilising new & existing areas.
We Hydroseed with quality seed blends & high analysis slow-release NPK fertilisers, using a mulch made from recycled newspaper.
Alternative mulches such as a paper-wood mulch or a high quality wood-fibre mulch can also be chosen.
Evergreen Landcare operates a fleet of 8 Hydroseeding units nationwide including a newly built tractor towed Hydroseeder for access to difficult sites.
Hydroseed Units
Evergreen Landcare designed, built and introduced hydroseeding into New Zealand in 1969. Since then the units have been redesigned, modified numerous times to suit New Zealand conditions and job size. Units carry a number of hoses and nozzle types to reach inaccessible sites.
Landscape equipment
