Evergreen Landcare operates a comprehensive health & safety management system that is consistent with ACC guidelines and the AS/NZS 4801:2001 Occupational Heath and Safety Management Systems Standard.

Management responsibility

We have set, clear management expectations and objectives to protect staff, supervisors and the public from potential risk.

Hazard Identification

Generic hazards are identified and recorded at a company-wide level. Site specific hazards are assessed by crews prior to starting work at each site.

Hazard Management

Hazards are eliminated where this is practicable. Residual hazards are managed through isolation or minimization strategies.

Accident and Incident Reporting and Investigation

An accident register is maintained and all accidents and near hits are investigated.

Rehabilitation and Safe Return to Work

Where possible, staff will be offered alternative duties upon their return to work after injury or illness.

Emergency Procedures

Procedures are in place for dealing with foreseeable emergency situations.

Induction Training and Provision of Personal Protective Equipment

All personnel new to a position, whether externally recruited or internally transferred, must be fully trained in the correct procedures and use of the personal protective equipment provided. All fire extinguishers are certified annually. First Aid kits are restocked every six months.

Employee Involvement in Health and Safety

We hold regular safety meetings with all staff as well as weekly tool box safety meetings.

Health Monitoring

Staff are assessed annually for hearing function.

Review and Systems Monitoring

Management review the functioning and appropriateness of this health and safety system annually.

Evergreen Landcare’s health & safety system provides a framework whereby management can be confident that all practicable steps are being taken to avoid harm being caused to its employees. Therefore, they are also meeting the requirements of health & safety in the Employment Act 1992 and its amendments.
