About Us

Evergreen Landcare has over 40 years experience in hydroseeding and erosion control. We are innovative and long-established industry leaders in environmentally sensitive operations in New Zealand. The original pioneer of hydraulic application of grass mulches in New Zealand, Evergreen has introduced many ‘firsts’ into the land care industry - new hydroseeding and erosion control products specifically adapted to New Zealand conditions. Evergreen Landcare’s Hydrosoil, Bioblanket, Siltstop, DustGone and Dustbond are just some of the latest technology products to be released into New Zealand. Evergreen Landcare’s success in erosion control is directly attributable to the skill, knowledge and experience of its staff.

Our Core Values

Hydroseed Units

Evergreen Landcare designed, built and introduced hydroseeding into New Zealand in 1969. Since then the units have been redesigned, modified numerous times to suit New Zealand conditions and job size. Units carry a number of hoses and nozzle types to reach inaccessible sites.

Landscape equipment

Kanga bobcats with 4 in 1 buckets, excavators and tip trucks make up the core of our landscape equipment. We also have the small tractors with level bars, rotary hoes etc to cultivate and level sites. This enables us to landscape small residential house sites right through to larger commercial sites.

Tractors and attachments

From 115hp down to 40hp to suit varying sites and conditions with landscape drills, roller drill, power harrow with precision computerised seed and fertiliser applicator, Rotodairon stone burier, mowers, maxitills, harrows and rotary hoes.

Transporters

We have large truck and trailer units with specially built hydraulic ramps. This makes our equipment mobile and efficient between sites.

Straw mulchers

4WD Tractor or Tracked 4WD tractor mounted so the driver is comfortable and safe within an air conditioned cab. Fertiliser and seed can be applied with the straw.

Mowers

From large tractor mounted, front deck self propelled, to quad bike mower. This enables us to mow subdivisions, road sides, lifestyle blocks to regular commercial maintenance.

Staff vehicles

All vehicles carry a first aid kit and fire extinguisher.

Hamish also has experience in Otago, Marlborough and Manawatu. His broad knowledge and experience in pastoral farming, fencing, agricultural equipment, pasture, agrinutrients, soil type and climate throughout New Zealand has proven to be invaluable to the business and working on large scale projects.

Evergreen Landcare has experienced much growth over the years since the company was bought in 2003. Whilst the core of the business is still based on re-grassing, re-vegetation, and erosion control Evegreen Landcare Ltd now has many more products and services that are on offer to the market. Hamish has played a major influence in the development and expansion of the company to date and along with his management team is keen to keep this progress going.

Hamish has been regularly involved in all of the Company's projects over the past few years. His “hands on approach” to the business means he has developed a vast knowledge and understanding of all aspects of the construction, roading, contracting, and mining industries of New Zealand. Hamish has regular communications with both his staff and clients to maintain the highest level of service and actively involves himself in the Health & Safety and Environmental issues that are of high importance in the industry today.

Hamish has a major influence on the business, and will make sure Evergreen’s service and delivery is up to standard.

Ben joined the family business late in 2010 and since then has played a major part in the development of the business. Ben is currently a shareholder and director in the business and has a stake in the property located on 422 Ngongotaha Road in Rotorua where the business in based.

Prior to joining the family business Ben graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce Degree from Lincoln University. During this time he invested in rental properties in Christchurch and operated a sheep dagging business during the university holidays which provided a good start.

Ben is heavily involved in all aspects of the business and is keen to continue to develop the business and continue to be a market leader in optimising land restoration and improvement.

Ben also has interests and experience in the farming environment where he has worked on many farms throughout the country which has been beneficial to the company to date. He has also had experience in Western Australia, where he worked in the mining industry on drilling rigs for Boart Longyear, and also on a large scale cattle station in the Kimberley.

Ben brings a valuable mix of practical and theoretical knowledge to the company. A major part of Bens role is client liason where he is involved with providing sales, advice and delivery to the clients. Another major role that Ben plays along with the management team is to continue the expansion and development of the business.

As well as developing and improving operating systems he also has the ability to monitor and maintain quality standards when overseeing projects in the field. Ben also takes a 'hands on approach' to the business as he enjoys working closely with staff and clients and he also shares the philosophy of maintaining strong relationships with clients and staff.

Ben is an enthusiastic, open minded, friendly person who is always happy to answer any questions anyone may have.

Sally has carried out the book-keeping and accounts functions for Evergreen Landcare since she and her husband Hamish bought the company in 2003.

A qualified primary school teacher, Sally initially balanced her role with teaching on a part time basis.

As the company has grown it has now become a full time position.

She is an experienced and proficient accounts officer and is always happy to discuss invoicing queries with clients should these arise.

Testimonials
  • Once again, thank you so much for your wonderful support. Your generous donation to our Branch of over 300sqm of hydro seeded lawn was just fantastic and as you can see from the photo – it looks amazing.  We couldn't believe how quickly it grew and how lush it now looks.

Now we have moved into our new Animal Centre, people coming to look at our animals are always commenting on how great the lawn looks.

Thank you for being part of this community project – you are helping us to look after the needy animals of our region through proving a facility that people want to come and see and are happy to spend time at.

  • We had a large area of “paddock” which had never been sown properly when the house was built.  Amongst the ten quotes we’d received Pete Low and Evergreen Landcare one stood out for being timely, efficient, highly personable and very reasonable price wise.

They were small enough to give the personal touch, while big enough to have all the necessary gear and give a confidence they could handle a job one or two others in game saw as too challenging.

The proliferation of stones were dealt with expertly with the “stone burrier”, they worked with a “whatever it takes” approach and then sowed/sprayed on the hydroseed.

To say we were stunned by the result is an understatement – no one who’d seen what was there could quite believe it, within two weeks there was a great “show” and within 5-6 weeks our kids were enjoying playing on “real grass.” It looks great and for the very modest investment has greatly improved our home.

We’d thoroughly recommend Pete and his team, nothing was too much trouble and the follow up service superb – so much so that we’ve had them back to sow another large area on the other side of the home.

  • Evergreen Landcare has been involved in a number of contracts for

Paul Smith Earthmoving 2002 Limited, and also been appointed Landscape Sub-contractor for many of our major contracts.

We have always been impressed at the high standard to which they complete any work they carry out for PSE, whether it is a small berm reseeding or major landscape project. Care and attention to detail are of paramount importance to completing all our jobs and Evergreen Landcare are most emphatic that all their work is carried out to our high expectations and within our scheduled timeframe.

Paul Smith Earthmoving endorses the services of Evergreen Landcare.

  • We sought the services of a personable, reliable and professional hydroseeding company to assist with the grassing of the Jack Nicklaus golf course at Kinloch. Evergreen Landcare provided these qualities, achieving a great result on the golf course.

Evergreen Landcares  involvement in the project was critical to securing the volatile pumice soils and their ability to be there when we needed them, often at short notice was one of the reasons we were successful with our grassing programme.

  • Evergreen Landcare has been sub-contracted by Fulton Hogan on the East Taupo Arterial Project since the initial stages of earthworks.  During this time they have provided straw mulching, hydroseeding and grassing services as well as final formation, grooming, turf establishment and mowing on roadside swale drains.

The company’s range of specialist hydroseeding products such as Hydrosoil®, Siltstop® and Bioblanket® were used successfully at various sites on the East Taupo Arterial Project.

I have found Evergreen Landcare to be very responsive when required to carry out essential sediment control work at short notice.  Their staff are experienced, well trained and friendly.  They have operated in a safe and professional manner while on site.

I therefore have no hesitation in recommending Evergreen Landcare to other managers of large scale earthworks and highway construction projects.

  • Between November 2007 and February 2010 Evergreen Landcare were sub-contracted to carry out hydroseeding, tractor grassing to final finish on the Peninsula Bay subdivision, Wanaka for our company BG Contracting.

Evergreen Landcare carried out the work efficiently and professionally maintaining good communication with BG Contracting project managers.

They were cooperative and scheduled grassing according to our operational requirements.  The result left a well presented quality subdivision.

I would recommend Evergreen Landcare to other construction organizations requiring grassing, straw mulching and hydroseeding services.
